Experience Franschhoek offer guided hiking adventures in the Franschhoek Mountains in the Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve, the Berg River Conservation Area and at La Motte.

The Perdekop Trail is in the Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve at the top of the Franschhoek Pass. It is a moderate hike of 13km taking approximately 5 hours

The circular Perdekop Trail rises 850m from its starting point to peak halfway at Perdekop, 1575m. Perdekop is the highest point in the Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve.
Along this trail superb panoramic views of the Wemmershoek valley and surrounding cliffs can be seen. To the west Table Mountain is visible on a clear day.
Perdekop Peak is marked by a large stone cairn (elevation 1575m).
The last stretch back includes a very steep descent into the Du Toit’s River gorge, and a steep climb back up past the diesel-electric generator serving the Du Toit’s River pump; from there it is a short walk back to the gate.

Hikers have the opportunity to learn about the History of the town as well as interesting information on the indigenous Fauna and Flora of the Fynbos Biome.

Highlights include: Spectacular views, fresh drinkable mountain water and lifetime memories.

Return transport from Franschhoek Main Road is included.

Important: Basic Fitness, appropriate walking shoes/ clothes, suitable backpack and water is compulsory.

WeatherActivity can take place in All weather conditions. If conditions are unpleasant (this can only be determined on the morning of the activity), the activity may have to be rescheduled.
What to Wear-Comfortable clothes, -Shoes(hiking boots, trail running shoes etc) -A warm jacket(Regardless of weather), -Waterproof jacket if wet conditions are expected -Hat -Sun Block
Things to Bring-Hat -SunBlock -At least 1L of Water -Snacks -Suitable Back pack -Your camera so that you can take photos of the amazing scenery.

  • Morning trips :
    (Summer: Oct April) depart Franschhoek Main Road at 7am returning around 11am.
    (Winter: May Sep) depart Franschhoek Main Road at 8am returning around 12am.
  • Afternoon trips :
    -(Summer :Oct-April) depart Franschhoek Main Road at 3pm returning around 7pm.
    -(Winter:May – Sep) depart Franschhoek Main Road at 1pm returning around 5pm.

- In the event of cancellation within 48 hours of the confirmed activity date, a 25% administration fee will apply.
- In the event of a “no show”or cancellation on the day of the confirmed activity, a 100% missed booking/cancellation fee will apply.
